The Monument of the Immortals Calls for Olympic Unity and a 15-Day Peace Between Russia and Ukraine

As custodians of the Olympic Spirit of Truth, the Monument of the Immortals expresses deep concern regarding the IOC’s decision to expel Russia from participation in the Milan 2026 Winter Olympic Games. The Olympic movement has always stood as a beacon of unity, dialogue, and peaceful competition among nations. Decisions that diminish participation risk weakening the very ideals the Games were created to uphold.

In the interest of global harmony and in respect for the Olympic tradition, we call upon the governments of Russia and Ukraine to enact a 15-day peace—a temporary but meaningful pause in hostilities—to allow both nations to join the international community in Milan. Such a gesture would honor the legacy of the ancient Olympic Truce and reaffirm the shared human values that transcend conflict.

We urge all parties, including the international community and the IOC, to support efforts that promote reconciliation, understanding, and the universal right of athletes to compete on the world stage.

The Monument of the Immortals remains committed to safeguarding the principles of truth, unity, and peace that define the Olympic spirit.
